How to Make a Football Pizza

There’s something comforting about a homemade pizza. You know the kind we mean: rectangular, made on a cookie sheet. For a little nostalgia and some fun with your game day food, we found an easy recipe for football pepperoni pizza that we want to share with you.

You don’t need much to make this; here’s the list:

  • Pizza dough or crust (you can make your own or buy your favorite premade brand)
  • Olive oil
  • Tomato sauce
  • Shredded mozzarella
  • Chopped fresh parsley (if you don’t like parsley, you can use pesto or basil, as long as it’s green!)
  • Sliced pepperoni
  • String cheese

Assembling a football pizza is easy, too. It only takes a few simple steps.

Preheat the oven to 425º and grease your cookie sheet with olive oil or cooking spray. Place your dough at the center of the sheet and spread it out into a roughly 14×12-inch rectangle. Brush the dough with olive oil and bake it for 7 minutes. If you’re using pre-baked crust, you can skip this step.

Next, spread tomato sauce evenly over your crust and sprinkle the mozzarella cheese on top of it. Top that with your parsley (or green alternative) to make the “field.” Take the pepperoni and arrange it in a football shape in the middle of the pizza. Use the string cheese to make laces in the middle of your pepperoni football.

Finally, put your pizza back in the oven and bake for 10 to 13 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly. Let it cool for a few minutes and then cut into squares and enjoy!
